A recent survey conducted by direct marketing support services provider, MarketingFile.com has revealed that many of the UK's small businesses are unaware of the £5,000 fine that will be payable from June 25 if they call a business which has opted to register with the UK's version of the 'Do Not Call' list, the Telephone Preference Service (TPS).
MarketingFile.com revealed that some 70% of the SMEs questioned were unaware of the new law, whilst 23% suggested that they would ignore the opt-out list and continue to make unsolicited calls to other firms regardless.
According to the survey results, as many as one in six UK businesses are expected to take advantage of the stronger penalties for unsolicited direct marketing by signing up to the TPS in order to stop such calls.
