Following Cabinet approval of his recommendation, Minister for Investment, Industry and Information Technology Austin Gatt, on Tuesday appointed Robert Aquilina as non-executive Chairman of Malta Shipyards Limited.
Mr Aquilina is replacing John Cassar White whose resignation was accepted recently by the Minister.
Prior to his appointment, Mr Aquilina was the Chairman and CEO of the Salvo Grima Group, which he has effectively headed for most of his adult life, in addition to serving as a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
He has also served for six years on the council of the International Marine Purchasers’ Association in the capacity of Vice President and, amongst other involvements, as a director of VISET plc.
Mr Aquilina has served on the Boards of EneMalta Corporation, the Malta Resource Authority and latterly the Malta Shipyards.
