Mourant du Feu & Jeune, part of Mourant, was cited for its involvement in one of the “deals of the year” at the recent International Financial Law Review awards, which celebrate legal innovation and the ingenuity of lawyers in Europe.
Mourant du Feu & Jeune’s Business Practice Area acted for The Royal Bank of Scotland in the multi-billion pound takeover of ABN Amro Group, which IFLR described as having “more or less everything”.
IFLR highlighted the fact that it was the first time a consortium of three large banks – The Royal Bank of Scotland, Banco Santander and Fortis – had joined together to acquire another global bank, and recognised the hurdles such as litigation, regulatory changes and a drying up of liquidity.
“These awards provide further evidence that Mourant du Feu & Jeune continues to advise on some of the most complex and innovative deals in the market,” commented Elaine Millar, partner and head of the Business Practice Area at Mourant du Feu & Jeune.
She concluded:
“This was the deal of the year in terms of mergers and acquisitions and we’re delighted to have been involved.”
Mourant is a multi-disciplinary, international professional services group, specialising in fund and corporate administration, offshore law, and private wealth services.
The Mourant group currently has offices in Cayman, Dubai, Dublin, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Jersey, London, Luxembourg, New York, San Francisco and Singapore, and has plans for further jurisdictional growth in 2008.
