Reports in the regional media have revealed that Monroe council is set to vote on a decision to give a tax abatement to a company wishing to expand upon property at the Monroe Commerce Centre, north of Ohio.
According to the Dayton Daily News, General Motors Corp. (GM), an automotive company which specialises in distributing automotive replacement parts and accessories nationwide, is requesting permission from Monroe council to build two brand new properties in the state's Commerce Centre, which would cost around $102.3m, and generate as many as 185 new full-time jobs within the city.
Under the proposal put before the council, GM are seeking a 15-year, 100% community reinvestment tax abatement. William Brock, Monroe City Manager was quoted as stating that: "As long as GM have the appropriate development incentives, then I think we have an opportunity to bring a reputable company into the city."
