Taiwanese government plans to introduce a new Luxuries Tax in 2010 are far from being finalized, Taiwan's Ministry of Finance (MoF) has revealed.
A plan for a tax on luxury items such as jewellery, watches, and luxury clothes, cars and apartments has been under consideration for some time by the government, though detail has been sparse.
Despite speculation that the new tax would enter into force in 2010, the MoF has revealed that the government is unclear on how such a tax could be implemented, and will need to conduct further investigations into how it has been implemented in other countries before moving forward.
