The inquiry which is investigating allegations of financial wrongdoings by Grenada's Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell has resumed its hearing in the Grenada Trade Centre.
The inquiry, which was postponed last year after Hurricane Ivan, is investigating allegations that Dr Mitchell received some US$500,000 from one Eric Resteiner in return for the latter's economic citizenship of Grenada.
Prime Minister Mitchell has vehemently denied the accusations, and maintained that he only received approximately US$15,000. He has also taken legal action against the Miami-based newsletter Offshore Alert, which first published the allegations.
On Wednesday the commission called its first two witnesses which included Michael Creft, a former head of the island’s offshore banking regulatory body, and Meryl Forsythe, a former cabinet secretary who retired three years ago.
