The Mauritius Financial Services Promotion Agency (FSPA) is organising a promotion mission to Europe later this month which will be led by the Minister of Economic Development, Financial Services and Corporate Affairs, Sushil K.Khushiram.
The trip will kick off in London with a seminar on 23rd September at 16.30
at the Trinity House on Tower Hill (no beheadings!), followed by cocktails.
After an introduction by Mr Georges Chung, Chairman of the FSPA, Minister Kushiran
will talk on 'Strategies & Policies Relating to the Financial Services Sector
in Mauritius'.
Jane McCormick, Tax Partner at KPMG will address the subject: Current Issues Affecting the European Financial Services Industry & Tax Planning Opportunities through Mauritius, and Mukesh Rajani, Partner, Tax & Legal Services, PricewaterhouseCoopers, London will cover 'Tax Planning & Investment Opportunities in Asia’s Emerging Markets'.
The Chief Executive of Mauritius's Financial Services Commission, Iqbal Rajahbalee, will talk about 'The Impact of Recent Changes in the Regulatory Framework in Mauritius', followed by Paul Knox, Tax Director, Private Client Services Ernst & Young, London, discussing 'The Role of Mauritius for Private Wealth Management & Trusts'.
The afternoon will wind up with Pierre Dinan, Partner, Multiconsult Ltd, talking
on 'Fund Administration in Mauritius - Why and How?', and Sunil Banymandhub,
President, Association of Management Companies, dealing with 'Mauritius as a
Business Destination for International Financial Services'.
The Mauritius team will then move on to Luxembourg to attend the “11th
Annual Europe-USA Investment Fund Forum” organised jointly by the ‘Association
Luxembourgeoise des Fonds d’Investissement’ (ALFI) and the ‘National
Investment Company Service Association’ (NICSA). The FSPA has also booked
a display stand during the conference.
For their third stop, the team will travel to Switzerland for a seminar on 26th September organised at the Hotel Baur au Lac with the support of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) of Switzerland. Invitations will be sent out next week to all the STEP members in Switzerland and to other professionals as well. Presentations will be from 16.45 to 18.15 followed by panel discussions and cocktails from 19.00hrs to 20.00hrs.
