Marc Harris Organisation Clients Gaoled By Miami Court

Tax-News.com, New York

15 June 2001

OffshoreAlert, the web-site at www.offshorebusiness.com devoted to exposing Internet financial scams, has been following the case of Marc Harris, whose fraudulent organisations in Panama and other jurisdictions have been attacked by the authorities.

Now OffshoreAlert reports that two of Marc Harris's clients have been found guilty of tax evasion in Miami. Says the report:

'Marc Harris clients Tony Vigna and his son, Joseph, have been sentenced to prison terms of 24 months and 18 months, respectively, at the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida after previously pleading guilty to tax evasion.

'Apart from imprisonment, Tony Vigna was also ordered to pay restitution of $500,000, while Joseph Vigna was ordered to pay restitution of $250,000. Both will also undergo three years of supervised release.

'Joseph Vigna was sentenced on June 1, 2001 and Tony Vigna was sentenced on June 5, 2001. Joseph Vigna immediately filed an appeal against his sentencing.

'In return for lenient sentences, the Vignas have agreed to co-operate with the US authorities in relation to any investigations that are being carried out into matters of which they have knowledge.

' The Vignas fled the United States to Panama before they were criminally indicted but were arrested on November 9, 2000 and immediately deported to Miami, where they have remained in custody ever since.

'The structures for which they were imprisoned were set up by The Harris Organization financial services group of Panama.

'The Harris Organization provided Tony Vigna with a fake British passport in the name of a long-term mental patient to help him avoid detection while he was on the run.

'Apart from their criminal problems, the Vignas are among the many clients of The Harris Organization who are unable to redeem their investments.

'OffshoreAlert has received many telephone calls and e-mails from clients who claim to have been defrauded by The Harris Organization.'
