A survey of 300 IT executives in the UK recently undertaken by the National Computing Centre (NCC) has revealed that nearly half of those questioned are not fully aware of their compliance obligations with regard to the US Sarbanes-Oxley Act and UK regulations such as the Data Protection Act.
According to the poll, 44% of the IT decision-makers admitted to not being fully aware of IT standards and legal requirements, whilst 22% admitted that they had no knowledge of the issues whatsoever.
Speaking about the survey results this week, NCC's managing director, Stefan Foster observed that:
"This is an alarming figure, indicating significant lapses in compliance and poor adoption of best practice."
