Former Director of the Isle of Man Communications Commission, Bryan Waddington has been appointed as a Director of leading Manx Internet Service Provider, Domicilium (IOM) Limited.
The appointment has been announced following his retirement from the Commission after over 10 years in post. The Commission has responsibility for the licensing and regulation of all telecommunications and broadcasting on the Isle of Man within which Domicilium operate under an ISP licence. Just prior to leaving the Communications Commission Bryan instigated the independent review of the future of telecommunications undertaken by Interconnect. This review together with Commission's comments will form the basis for the framework within which all communications will operate on the Isle of Man for the foreseeable future.
Bryan is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers. Prior to joining the Communication Commission Bryan spent 20 years with the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) ending as head of telecommunications, 10 years working on television outside broadcasts with the BBC and a short period with Marconi as a trials engineer. This represents a lifetime involved with the rapidly changing world of communications. The appointment with Domicilium furthers this involvement at a time of great potential for Domicilium and the Isle of Man.
Welcoming Mr Waddington's appointment, Jon Allen, Managing Director of Domicilium said "We are very pleased that Bryan has agreed to work with Domicilium. Bryan has a wealth of experience in IOM communications regulation, in management and he has a detailed technical understanding of wireless communications. In all of these areas Bryan's input will prove invaluable to Domicilium as we continue to innovate to take advantage of new technologies for our customers."
Talking about his new position, Mr Waddington said "I am delighted that Domicilium have asked me to join their Board as a non-Executive Director. These are exciting times and I am very pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to the continuing development of such a dynamic, forward looking and successful Isle of Man based company."
