Man Investments, one of the world's largest providers of hedge fund investments, last week announced the opening of its Canadian operations.

Man Investments Canada Corp. will specialize in alternative investment products for private client and institutional investors.

As a pioneering alternative investment provider, Man Investments has launched more than 450 alternative investment vehicles in many countries over the last twenty years. The firm managed approximately US$49.9 billion worldwide as of March 31, 2006.

Based in London, Man Investments has operations in 14 countries including offices in Chicago and New York.

Man Investments Canada, led by Toreigh Stuart, Chief Executive Officer, will build a broad range of investment products to suit the private client and institutional market. Initially, its staff will comprise six experienced alternative investment professionals, the firm stated.

The group will cover all of Canada, with a senior executive based in British Columbia to assist with the West Coast.

Two long-standing, senior executives of Man Investments, John M. Kelly and Richard C. Ewan, will also be a part of the new venture. Mr Kelly, President and CEO of Man Investments Inc., based in Chicago, will serve as Chairman. He has been with the company for more than twenty years. Mr Ewan, who will be Director of Product Development beginning January 1, 2007, has been with the firm more than thirteen years.

According to Kelly, Canada is a sophisticated investment market with high potential for the alternative investment industry.

"We see exceptional opportunities in this country, with a rapidly growing appetite for our brand of products," he noted.

"Man Investments has developed significant demand for its products, with approximately C$500 million (US$450 million) raised through our successful strategic alliance with Canadian asset manager BluMont Capital Corporation. Our new operation will build on this experience and broaden the range of alternative investment products available in Canada," he added.

Man Investments will continue its relationship with BluMont Capital in servicing the many investors in the BluMont Man Note products and will launch the BluMont-Man IP 220 Series 4 Notes later this month.
