During a visit to Melita Cable plc., Malta's leading cable television service, the Minister for Justice and Local Government, Dr Austin Gatt announced last week that the government's ISP group initiative is due to be launched on 17 July, 2001.
As minister for Justice and Local Government, Dr Gatt is also responsible for the e-Government and e-Malta projects. He explained that the aim of the ISP Group is to act as a forum for Internet Service Providers to meet and give their input in the successful attainment of the e-Malta initiative.
He told the Malta Business Weekly: 'It is for this reason that we are setting up the ISP group. We all want to work in the same direction. We want the ISPs to work together and instead of acting as competitors, they look at each other as partners.'
