Internet users in Malta should expect faster download and upload speeds at no extra cost after Maltacom, which owns the Maltanet internet service provider, announced a significant upgrade in its services.
Maltanet says that it has increased by 100% the download speed from 128Kbps to 256Kbps while the upload speed has also been upgraded by 400%, from 64Kbps to 256Kbps. These speed upgrades apply for the Lm5.95 per 30 days package.
In addition to upgrading the speed of its entry-level Internet service speeds, Maltanet has also announced that all 4 Mbps broadband services have been upgraded as follows: the 1 Gigabyte (GB) accounts are being upgraded to 2GB, the 8GB accounts to 10GB, the 12GB accounts to 16GB and the 20GB accounts to 30GB every month. All users were automatically upgraded to the new monthly usage levels at no extra cost.
“The speed upgrade results in largely improved performance in the delivery of entry-level Internet bandwidth to our customers. This is line with our strategy of continuing to make high speed broadband accessible at an affordable price to as many households as possible, in our drive to take broadband to every household in Malta,” said Maltacom’s Gordon Dimech heading the Consumer Segment commercial team.
He added:
“The initiative is in line with Maltanet’s drive to deliver only the highest quality and best value for money services developed to meet and satisfy our customers’ expectations. We have invested in cutting edge technology as the platform for state-of-the art products and services.
“Our ongoing strategy to offer outstanding service at cost effective prices underpins the extent of our customer centricity and our commitment to increase the level of broadband usage in the Maltese community. As a result of the upgrades, our broadband products are a cut above any others available in the market. Maltanet is determined to continue to enhance the service for the benefit of our customers."
