Mr Joseph Zammit Tabona, Chairman of FinanceMalta and of the Malta Stock Exchange and Mr Alan Camilleri, Chairman of Malta Enterprise, were the main speakers at a meeting of the Malta All Party Parliamentary Group, hosted by Malta High Commissioner Dr Michael Refalo at the historic St Stephen’s Club in Westminster this week.
Mr Zammit Tabona and Mr Camilleri gave short presentations about the mission and achievements of their respective organizations and the quest to promote Malta and attract more Foreign Direct Investment to the country.
The speakers replied to questions and answered comments from the peers and
MPs who attended the meeting.
They were followed by Mark Jeffrey, De La Rue Director of Marketing who traced
the history of his company’s long association with Malta and its success
following De La Rue’s decision to invest and expand operations on the
island.
The company is in the process of building a new production line for the manufacture
of biometric passports.
The meeting was also attended by Malta Deputy High Commissioner Bernard Hamilton,
Mr Clive Brockdorf from Malta Enterprise, and Sir Brooke Boothby, Honorary Consul
for Malta in Wales.
The Malta APPG is jointly chaired by Michael Clapham MP (Labour) and Ms Jacqui
Lait MP (Conservative) while Baroness Lyn Golding (Labour) and Lord Kilclooney
(Ulster Unionist) are respectively Secretary and Treasurer. The Malta APPG is
open to members of both Houses of the UK Parliament.
