The rate of sales tax levied on the purchase of raw materials by factories is to be reviewed by the Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
The review aims to ensure that the country's manufacturing industry remains competitive throughout the global economic downturn.
Deputy Minister, Datuk Liew Vui Keong, announcing these intentions, also noted that trade with the US and EU had dropped significantly, whilst trade with the major Asian economies was rising.
