The House of Lords Select Committee on the Constitutional Reform Bill revealed on Friday that it had been unable to reach agreement on two of the Bill's key provisions.
Speaking to reporters last week, the Committee's chairman, Lord Richard announced that following three months of discussion, the Select Committee had failed to agree on the desirability of the creation of a Supreme Court, and the abolition of the post of Lord Chancellor.
However, he suggested that the discussions had not been a waste of time, arguing that:
"If the House decides there should be a Supreme Court, then we have cleared the road for its establishment."
The Bill will now return to the House of Lords for further debate on the unresolved issues.
