07 February 2007

International law firm, Linklaters announced last Friday that Simon Davies has been appointed as the next Firmwide Managing Partner until 30 June 2012.

He will be based in London.

Mr Davies joined Linklaters in London in 1990 and became a partner in 1999, based in Hong Kong, then Tokyo. Since 2003 he has been Asia Managing Partner, as well as a member of Linklaters’ Executive Committee. He is a specialist in corporate finance including mergers and acquisitions and securities issues.

He succeeds Tony Angel, who has decided to stand down following completion of his second term as Firmwide Managing Partner at the end of the calendar year. There will be a transition period, following which Mr Davies will formally take over the role on 1 January 2008.

David Cheyne, Linklaters' Senior Partner, observed that:

“Simon has been heavily involved in the development and implementation of our strategy in recent years. During his term as Asia Managing Partner, Linklaters has increasingly won recognition as the leading international firm in the region."

"Given his significant management skills and experience, Simon is ideally placed to build on the remarkable progress the firm has made under Tony’s leadership, from being an English law firm with international offices to becoming the leading global law firm.”
