Cains Advocates Limited, the Isle of Man’s longest established international law firm, has announced the expansion of its business with the opening of a London office in the City at One Love Lane EC2.
The launch of the London office, says the firm, is the latest in a series of initiatives to expand Cains’ business. The new office will enable the firm to leverage current relationships and further develop its business in the London market and internationally. The office will provide UK support for Cains’ Isle of Man headquarters. The London operation will be headed by corporate lawyer, Daniel Mackelden (who recently joined Cains from Walkers prior to which he worked with Linklaters in London and the Far East), and Charlie Macfarlane, formerly head of marketing at Fleming Private Asset Management.
The Isle of Man is witnessing a period of rapid economic growth facilitated by the phased introduction of a zero rate income tax regime for corporates and tax capping for individuals as well as a series of initiatives designed to entice businesses to invest in and through the Island. This policy, which will be complete by 2006, includes the space and satellite industry, the film industry and the funds industry – key Cains’ specialisms – and supports the significant expansion of the Isle of Man economy.
