Luxembourg-based lawyer, Roy Reding on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against the Grand Duchy's government, seeking the annulment of the recent 'Yes' vote on the EU constitution.
In a referendum held on July 10, 56.52% of voters supported the proposed constitution, with 43.48% voting against it.
However, Mr Reding claims that the government violated the national constitution by giving public funding only to the 'Yes' campaign. He also raised concerns over TV advertisements run ahead of the poll, which he argued "consisted entirely of psychological manipulation of the voter".
According to regional newspaper, Tageblatt, Mr Reding argued that:
"The only possible sanction...is the straight and simple cancellation of the referendum and its result."
