The Korean Ministry of Finance and Economy announced this week that it has granted permission for the OECD Tax Centre to remain in operation until December 2007.
The Centre - established in Seoul in 1997, and originally set to expire at the end of August - was launched to disseminate OECD tax-standard recommendations to regional member and non-member states, and to publicise South Korea's tax system and reform initiatives.
The Centre also works to strengthen cooperation between Korea and other Asian countries on tax-related issues, and provides training programmes for tax officials in the region on issues such as international tax agreements and the taxation of financial instruments.
