Korean Government To Introduce Supplementary Budget

by Mary Swire, Tax-News.com, Hong Kong

24 March 2009

The South Korean government has confirmed that plans are being made for the introduction of a supplementary budget.

It is thought that the extra stimulus bill will total around KRW28.9 trillion (USD20.5bn), and will be used to stabilize the economy by creating more jobs and introducing tax cuts which could total up to KRW11 trillion (USD7.84bn).

Measures will also be put in place to support the country's small and medium-sized enterprises and those facing unemployment.

The government are expected to formally announce their plans over the coming week, after which they will submit the proposal to Parliament for approval.
