The Korea Times reported on Thursday that talks on the avoidance of double taxation between Korea and Jordan are to be held in Amman at the weekend.
Representatives from the Korean Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE) and Jordan's tax service will meet on Saturday to begin discussions on streamlining the taxation process between the two countries in order to benefit bilateral cooperation, trade, and investment.
The Middle Eastern country has become increasingly important for Korean businesses over the years, with Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Heavy Industries, and LG Electronics representing just a few of the local firms which have chosen to establish regional headquarters in Jordan.
According to the MOFE, if the talks are successful, Korean businesses located in Jordan will likely be taxed at reduced rates or exempted altogether on account of taxes already paid in their home country, with the same rules coming into play for Jordanian firms located in Korea.
