KPMG Receives Top Auditor Award

by Robin Pilgrim, LawAndTax-News.com, London

26 April 2007

It emerged last week that KPMG's UK arm was named 'Auditor of the Year' in the 'Big Four' category at the Real FD/CBI Finance Directors' Excellence Awards in London.

The Awards represent the views of over 850 finance directors around the country.

At the awards ceremony, KPMG was commended for its high level of engagement with clients.

The award followed the news that KPMG recently became the UK's number one auditor in terms of number of listed audit clients, as revealed in Hemscott's quarterly auditor rankings.

The February 2007 Hemscott figures revealed that KPMG had 394 listed audit clients (up from 381 in the previous quarter), PwC had 385 (down from 393 in the previous quarter), Deloitte had 323 (up from 317 previously), and Ernst & Young had 322 (up from 309 the quarter before).

Richard Bennison, Head of Audit at KPMG in the UK, who accepted the award on behalf of the firm, announced that:

"We are delighted to have won this award for the third year in a row, especially as it represents the views of UK finance directors. It is a tribute to the hard work and quality of our audit teams, and a reflection of the energy we put into developing a genuine and ongoing relationship with clients."

John Griffith-Jones, Chairman and UK Senior Partner of KPMG in the UK, added:

"Our Audit practice represents the DNA at the heart of KPMG, and is integral to our plan to merge KPMG's member firms in the UK and Germany later this year."
