It has emerged that KPMG has overtaken PwC as the UK's No. 1 auditor of listed companies.
According to the Hemscott Quarterly Rankings of Auditors 2007 figures, KPMG now has the most AIM clients on its books, a position it shares jointly with auditors Grant Thornton.
The latest figures show that KPMG now leads the market overall, with the most listed audit clients, numbered at 394, over PwC’s 385. Of these, 167 are listed on AIM – the London Stock Exchange’s international market for smaller growing companies – the highest number of any Big Four firm.
Five years ago, PwC led the rankings with 444 clients, while KPMG followed with 368.
Ginny Stevens, Head of Audit for AIM companies at KPMG, observed that:
“These latest rankings show that KPMG’s increased focus on AIM companies across the UK is beginning to pay dividends.”
