Leading corporate service provider, Jordans is to shut down its Manx operation after 25 years on the Island, according to a report from the Isle of Man Online news service this week.
The company shed 15 jobs at its Isle of Man branch in October, following a decision to transfer files for non-Manx business back to its base in Bristol. The plan, according to director of international business at Jordans, Stephen Curtis, had been to continue running the office to service IoM-based business, but the volumes proved too small to be economically viable.
Mr Curtis told the local news service that the company's Douglas office will be closed between April and June: 'Once we have made suitable arranagements for the clients'. However, according to the report, he played down speculation that the company was being driven out by increased regulation of the corporate service provision sector, describing Jordans' relationship with the FSC as 'splendid'.
The company also has operations in Jersey, Gibraltar, and the British Virgin Islands, and Mr Curtis told the Isle of Man Online that there are no plans to move non-resident business from those jurisdictions, or to otherwise streamline operations there.
