It emerged last week that a delegation of government officials and finance industry representatives from Jersey is touring the Gulf, hosting presentations and receptions in locations such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Bahrain.
The ten day tour, which began last Thursday, is intended to build on the success of a 2002 visit to the region.
The delegation is being headed by Policy and Resources president, Senator Frank Walker who is accompanied by representatives from Jersey Finance, including chairman Pierre Horsfall, and chief executive Phil Austin.
Speaking prior to his departure for the Gulf, Mr Austin announced that:
"In this return visit we will concentrate on delivering a more detailed presentation on Jersey and we have invited an audience of senior legal and finance professionals to attend the presentation in each of Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Bahrain."
He continued:
"In addition we plan to replicate the successful format used in the City of London where we invite chief executives and senior partners from the key legal and financial organisations to join us over dinner."
"These events hosted by Senator Walker and chaired by Pierre Horsfall will help us to both clarify any misconceptions about Jersey and to give increased confidence about the future of our finance industry to some of the most influential business leaders in the region."
