Jersey-based Bedell Cristin Trust, one of the jurisdiction’s leading trust firms, has established a new wholly owned subsidiary based in Dublin which will specialise in the provision of corporate administration services to Irish-based special purpose vehicles.

Commenting on the move, Richard Gerwat, director of Bedell Cristin Trust said: "The past five years have been extremely busy for the European securitisation market and the demand for special purpose vehicles based in the premier finance centres has grown with it.”

He continues: “Certain transaction requirements demand special purpose vehicles located within an EU jurisdiction benefiting from a network of double tax treaty legislation. Ireland can provide that within an excellent legal, fiscal and regulatory environment.

“We have been able to arrange provision of this service in the past but not directly under the Bedell Cristin Trust banner. The growth of this sector of administration within Bedell Cristin Trust and maturity of the Jersey marketplace has enabled us to build a significant capability and platform from which to develop our strategy for growth of our business.”
