A summary of the responses to the consultation paper The Registration and Monitoring of Non-Profit Organisations was published in Jersey on Tuesday.
The consultation paper prompted considerable written and oral feedback, according to the Jersey authorities – over 38 responses were received from 46 organisations and individuals.
All have been carefully considered, and changes have made to the draft law as a consequence, it was announced this week.
This legislation has been drawn up in response to recommendations by the Financial Action Task Force concerning international efforts to combat the financing of terrorism. These will be reviewed as part of the visit by the IMF later this year.
Welcoming the interest shown in the consultation, Chief Minister, Senator Frank Walker, stated that:
“I recognise that there has been significant time pressure, so I thank everyone for their prompt and valued contributions to the debate. I look forward to further discussion with those attending the public meeting.”
A public meeting to discuss any outstanding issues on the draft NPO law is being held on Thursday.
