Luxembourg's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Hubert Wurth began a visit to Jersey on July 12, to discuss issues surrounding international finance centres and double taxation.
During the two-day visit, the Ambassador met with Ministers to explore strengthening diplomatic, business and cultural bilateral ties and collaboration in financial services. They also discussed forthcoming negotiations for a Double Taxation Agreement between Jersey and Luxembourg, as well as EU tax directives.
Jersey Chief Minister, Senator Terry Le Sueur, said ahead of the meeting that: “I am very much looking forward to welcoming the Ambassador. Like Jersey, Luxembourg is an important centre for wealth management and a number of Jersey-based companies have offices in Luxembourg. This is an excellent opportunity to strengthen existing links between the two jurisdictions.”
During his visit, the Ambassador will also meet with Assistant Chief Minister, UK and International Relations, Senator Freddie Cohen, with the Deputy Bailiff and a number of representatives from the financial services industry.
