Jersey Finance To Promote Island In UK Finance Centres

Jersey Finance is planning a series of events in the UK during the first half of the year to promote the finance industry’s trust and wealth management services.

It is also intending to showcase the Island’s fund services for the first time in Edinburgh, as part of an extensive programme of events designed to maintain the Island’s high profile in its key markets.

Trust and wealth management seminars are planned for Manchester and Leeds in March and Birmingham in June, whilst Jersey Finance’s annual conference for the Trusts industry will take place in London on 29th April.

Geoff Cook, Chief Executive, Jersey Finance commented:

“With changes to the tax and domiciles rules in the UK imminent, it’s a particularly important year to be visiting the UK and talking to finance professionals in the trust sector and other advisers about Jersey’s financial services industry."

"We will use the opportunity to highlight the depth and breadth of experience of our wealth management industry, the legislative changes that have been introduced, the enduring strength of our regulatory regime and how we achieve a balance between confidentiality in financial affairs and the needs of the international community to fight fiscal crime.”

Visits to the UK will be augmented by the ongoing series of visits to the key international regions where Jersey continues to win important new business, including the Far East.

In addition to a fact finding visit to India by Geoff Cook this month, Jersey Finance plans to host an Industry delegation return visit to China in April, including in the itinerary receptions in Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Mr Cook added:

“Our marketing strategy will continue to focus on our key objective of positioning Jersey as a high quality, sophisticated, innovative and influential jurisdiction. But rather than large scale events in the key international finance centres on an annual basis, we intend to introduce more frequent visits to the leading commercial regions of the world, which will enable us to engage on a more regular basis with the key business introducers, advisers and international investors who might benefit from using Jersey.”
