Jersey based hedge fund Liberty Ermitage has managed to capitalise on the recent success of its three recently launched new funds, recruiting two experienced fund managers previously based in the City of London.
The Global Strategy, Strategic Partners and the Gold and Resources fund now have a combined £280 million under management and the firm as a whole is backed by notable South African bank Standard Bank, reports the Jersey Evening Post.
The fund has recently managed to recruit Charles Howlett, who has nine years investment management experience as an equities specialist at Regent Pacific Group and DKB's European desk. Also joining the team is Alan Scrimger, an experienced foreign exchange and interest rate trader with Lloyds TSB and the Royal Bank of Scotland International, according to the JEP.
"Liberty Ermitage has won a number of significant and highly visible institutional mandates in the past six months and we are gearing up for the next phase in our growth," Ian Cadby, head of strategic investments at the firm, told the JEP.
"We have been able to attract some highly talented people from mainstream investment banks to bolster our investment team - our preference always being to hire ex-traders and hands-on money managers," he added.
