JICA Helps Modernize Vietnamese Tax Agency

It has been announced this week that, from August 2008, the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will help the Vietnamese Tax General Department (TGD) to put in place reforms.

According to a report from the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on Thursday, Nguyen Van Ninh, General Director of the TGD, and Hiroaki Nakagawa, JICA country representative signed the agreement on 1st July in Hanoi.

The VNA went on to report that the aim of the agreement is to support and guide tax payers in fulfilling their duties properly, in addition to improving the competence of tax collectors.
