For the third year in succession, KPMG Isle of Man's Regulatory and Compliance team, in conjunction with the Compliance Register, is to host the annual Manx Compliance Conference at the Hilton Hotel in Douglas on 22 May 2001. Now in its fourth year, it is a topical conference for compliance officers, chief executives and senior managers and will focus on Isle of Man regulatory issues and the international position of the island.
The conference, to be chaired by David McGarry, partner in charge of the KPMG Regulatory and Compliance team, will feature a key note address by John Cashen, chief financial officer at the Treasury, whilst speakers include chief executive of the Financial Supervision Commission (FSC), John Apsden, and Detective Sergeant Roger Thomson of the Isle of Man's Financial Crime Unit.
Key topics will include an international overview, developments within the FSC and the Insurance and Pensions Authority, an update from the Financial Crime Unit, companies' supervision developments, data protection and UK regulatory developments. In a change to last year's programme, the latter half of the conference will be dedicated to industry-specific discussion sessions which will focus on particular regulatory issues relevant to the life assurance, corporate service provider and banking, investment business and funds industry sectors.
The Compliance Register is a specialist international organisation dedicated to assisting compliance officers and staff. KPMG says that for financial institutions in the Isle of Man, achieving ongoing compliance with all relevant legislation and regulation is the key in today's environment.
Further details of the upcoming conference, including an application form, are available at www.compliance-register.com or further information may be obtained from the KPMG Regulatory and Compliance team on (01624) 681000.
