Manx-based InvisiMail, a leading e-commerce solutions firm on the Island, has unveiled an online service offering residents secure direct links to help them manage most of their financial affairs such as banking, shopping, paying bills, placing bets and signing electronic documents with digital signatures.
Entitled e-habitant the service, launched this week, was described by David North, Minister for the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as a 'unique concept' and 'the first venture of its kind to attempt to bring the entire Island community together electronically.'
Each adult on the Isle of Man will be given an 'e-habitant activation code' allowing residents to register for the service. Damian Fozard, chief executive of InvisiMail told local news service, Isle of Man online, that several blue-chip companies and retailers have entered into partnership with e-habitant including the DTI, Ernst & Young, Manx Airlines and Littlewoods Leisure.
Mr Fozard added: 'The business level security and capability enjoyed by these organisations will be available to every household on the Isle of Man through the e-habitant system.'
