Following a review of the jurisdiction’s public relations requirements, the Isle of Man Treasury has announced the appointment of new communications advisors to raise the island's international business profile.
The two firms awarded the brief, Weber Shandwick and Lansons Communicatios, will be responsible for promoting both the jurisdiction’s financial services and e-business sectors.
Weber Shandwick will deal primarily with the financial services side of the project, and the firms’ London office will coordinate promotion activities over a network of 120 offices in 65 countries.
A key focus will be to increase dialogue with national and international print and broadcast media, on issues outside of regulatory developments, the Treasury Department stated.
Lansons Communications meanwhile will work with Tim Craine, Head of the Treasury E-Business Division, to communicate the Island's e-business capabilities and raise its profile as a centre for e-business, particularly with international corporate advisers and law firms.
“The Isle of Man is well regarded as an international centre within the financial services sector and amongst those media who know it well. The challenge is to extend its reach to new media and markets and to increase understanding through a more targeted approach,” noted Juliet Carey, Financial Services Director of Weber Shandwick Worldwide.
Tony Langham, Chief Executive of Lansons Communications added: ”The Isle of Man has what many e-businesses are looking for: broadband coverage, IT-literate workforce, favourable tax regime – and it’s a great place to raise a family.”
