As part of the Isle of Man’s Ship Registry’s ambition to strengthen its position in the Scandinavian market, the fast-growing Red Ensign Group flag will highlight its approach and showcase the benefits of the registry at next week’s Norshipping forum.
As well as the strong historic links between the Isle of Man and Scandinavia, the Island has seen a significant recent increase in interest from Scandinavian ship owners and operators in its registry.
Now in its silver jubilee year, the Isle of Man Ship Registry offers owners and operators an attractive combination of an internationally recognised high quality flag, strong and dependable personal service, and favourable fee structure. As well as only levying a one-off – rather than tonnage-based - registry fee, the island also showed its responsiveness to customer needs earlier this year by freezing its annual fee schedule at last year’s rates – an acknowledgement of the difficult operating conditions which many customers are facing.
Anne Blythe, Senior Registrar for the Isle of Man Ship Registry commented: “Norshipping is a valuable platform for us to meet like-minded individuals from this area. Many of those attending the conference will be aware of the great benefits of registering with the Isle of Man. We believe the current economic uncertainty affecting the shipping world is a strong opportunity for the Isle of Man to showcase that we are listening and responding to the needs of operators and owners, delivering superior service with a favourable fee structure.”
Minister for Trade and Industry, David Cretney commented: “As one of the most important regions in the shipping world, having a presence at Norshipping is essential for the Isle of Man. Over 25 years, we have built up a world-leading shipping infrastructure, offering formidable expertise in ship management, surveying, legal, financial and corporate services, and our own customer-focused registry team. All this, coupled with our agile and supportive regulatory and political framework, makes for an attractive proposition to those in the industry looking for a high quality one-stop-shop.”
