The accolade of Best Offshore Financial Centre has been given to the Isle of Man at this year's International Investment Awards, reaffirming its position as a leading global offshore centre.

Isle of Man-based companies won nine of the fourteen awards, including:

Fairbairn Private Bank, which won the Best Offshore Bank Group, Best Offshore Bank Product, and Best Internet Service categories; Royal Skandia, which won the Best International Life Group, Best International Life Product Range, Commitment to Service awards; CMI, winning the Best International Life Product award; Britannia International, taking the Best Offshore Structured Product award; Bank of Scotland International, which won the Best Term Deposit Taker and; Derbyshire (IoM), which took the Base Rate Tracker and Best Instant Access Deposit Taker awards.

"Over the past 12 months, the Isle of Man has once again shown itself to be at the forefront of international financial services," the awards judges noted.

"Despite the problems that have plagued senior political figures in the Island, the financial services sector has continued with its progressive programme of tax reform and fund legislation while maintaining careful oversight under the watchful eye of regulator John Aspden," the judges added.
