Last week, we reported on the Isle of Man's new E-Commerce and E-Society Strategy Report which set out in detail the development of the Island's approach that has enabed the jurisdiction to become one of the world's leading e-commerce centres and most advanced 'e-societies.'
We can now confirm that the report has obtained the approval of the Island's parliament, Tynwald, and the government's E-Commerce division will now be taking active steps to promote the strategy.
In a statement released by the government, Tim Craine, the Island's Director of E-Commerce, commented: 'Following on from the approval by both the Council of Ministers and Tynwald, the E-Commerce and E-Strategy Report can now be officially promoted as Government policy.'
He added: 'The Strategy Report will become an invaluable tool in helping to promote the Isle of Man as a centre for e-commerce and will act as an essential source of reference for businesses thinking of establishing an e-commerce presence in the Island. The Isle of Man already has a very attractive package of advantages to offer e-entrepreneurs and this strategy document will help to focus in on these advantages.'
In his speech to the June sitting of Tynwald, Chief Minister Donald Gelling MHK, who wrote a foreward for the report, said: 'The production of this E-Commerce and E-Society Strategy is an important milestone in the Government's commitment to ensure that the island remains at the forefront of e-enabled jurisdictions.'
