Writing in the Isle of Man’s second annual Government Plan, Chief Minister Richard Corkill extolled the jurisdiction’s economic strength and expressed much confidence in the island’s future outlook.
“The Isle of Man’s economy is robust, unemployment is low and we enjoy a high standard of public services,” commented Mr Corkill. “The Island has emerged from the international scrutiny of the past few years with an enhanced reputation and a strong platform for sustaining success."
He continued: “The Island’s achievements to date, in both the private and public sectors, are a tribute to the skills, adaptability and hard work of its people. It is a track record that should give us every confidence for the future of our community and our quality of life."
The aims and objectives set out in the Government Plan flow from Government’s core purpose: "To maintain and build on the high quality of life enjoyed by the Island’s community."
The six central aims of the Plan, each leading in turn to a range of more specific objectives and targets, are: Economic Progress, Social Well-being, Quality Environment, Sound Infrastructure, Good Government, and Positive National Identity.
