On Tuesday this week, Richard Corkill was appointed the new Chief Minister of the Isle of Man. Mr Corkhill, whose previous role was as Treasury Minister since 1996, was elected to the post by Tynwald, the Manx Parliament, and formally appointed on behalf of the Crown by the Island's Lieutenant Governor, Air Marshal Ian Macfadyen.
Mr Corkhill succeeds Donald Gelling who seconded Mr Corkhill's nomination; he had served in the post for the previous five years and was not seeking re-election.
The New Chief Minister commented: 'It is a great honour to become Chief Minister of the Isle of Man and I hope to carry on Donald Gelling's good work. The task ahead is to continue the development of the Island as an enterprising but internationally responsible centre for global business activity.'
