The Isle Of Man's Financial Supervision Commission has announced that it is hosting two half-day seminars on the growing problem of financial fraud. Key note speakers will include representatives from the US Customs Service, the West African Fraud section of the National Criminal Intelligence Service in London, Customs and Excise and the Isle of Man's own Financial Crime Unit.
Financial fraud poses a serious threat to financial institutions globally. The aim of the seminar is to illustrate some of the known money laundering techniques and discuss recent high profile cases in order to promote more awareness among businesses to help them further understand the risks involved.
In a statement released by the FSC, chief executive John Aspden said: 'The Commission places great importance on working with the industry to raise awareness of risk areas which pose a threat to local businesses and the Island's reputation. This seminar will build on previous Anti-Money Laundering events we have held and demonstrates the Island's continued commitment in the international fight against illegal activity.'
The seminars are being held on 27 and 28 March Delegates can attend either a morning or afternoon session on either of these dates and a registration form can be downloaded from the Commission's website at http://www.fsc.gov.im
