The Isle of Man's Minister for Trade and Industry, David Cretney, has congratulated the island's aircraft registry on winning the Public Sector Achievement of the Year award at the Isle of Man Newspapers’ Awards for Excellence.
Director of Civil Aviation, Brian Johnson, received the award on behalf of the registry and thanked his team for their help and support since the Register’s launch on May 1, 2007.
Johnson commented:
“I would like to thank the staff in the aircraft registry for their hard work and dedication which has seen the number of aircraft registered in the Isle of Man reach nearly 100 in a little over 18 months. I am also grateful for the support of Minister Cretney and his office over this period. This is a really great team effort and I am delighted to accept the award on their behalf".
Cretney added:
“I am so pleased for Brian and his team as I know how hard they have worked over the last 18 months to establish what is now considered a world-class aircraft register. This new business sector of aircraft registration has opened up new opportunities for local companies, such as corporate service providers, who have benefited from the keen interest shown in exploiting the many advantages of registering an aircraft in the Isle of Man."
