Irish Revenue And PSA To Cooperate In Tax Matters

by Jason Gorringe, Tax-News.com, London

16 July 2007

Closer co-operation between the Revenue Commissioners and the Private Security Authority was promised following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by both organisations last month.

The MOU was signed on June 20 by Gerry Harrahill, Collector General, on behalf of the Revenue Commissioners and the Chief Executive Officer of the Private Security Authority, Geraldine Larkin, at the Authority’s offices in Tipperary.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr Harrahill observed that:

"This is an important development in facilitating close cooperation between both Revenue and the Private Security Authority towards maximising compliance with both the licensing requirements of the PSA and requirements of Revenue in relation to tax matters."

"In setting out clear channels and timeframes for the exchange of appropriate information and providing for coordinated interventions where they are deemed mutually beneficial, this MOU provides a significant bedrock for cooperation and mutual support."

The PSA is the regulatory agency responsible for the licensing of the security industry in Ireland.
