A new service from Dublin-based company Global Network Electronic Trading (GNET) will provide online stock market information for computer and mobile phone users. GNET intends to provide real-time stock prices, trade execution, and in-depth investor information from stock markets in both Europe and the US.

GNET's offering joins a raft of other services currently available to investors in Ireland. The country's big stockbroking names - NCB, Davy's and Goodbodys to name but three - have all brought their share trading services online. In addition the Irish Stock Exchange has jurst launched CREST Personal Membership, a new electronic means for investors to hold shares.

GNET proposes to link investors with major exchanges including London, Frankfurt and Paris. The service is due to be operational by summer 2001. GNET first started operating in January 2000, offering its VirtualBroking system to retail financial institutions and other organisations wanting to provide customers with multiple market stock trading through a single account.
