The Irish government on Monday rolled out a new 65 million euro broadband network linking 19 towns across the Republic.
According to a report from the Business World national news service, the switching on ceremony took place at the National Software Centre in Cork. The roll-out was carried out in association with several local authorities, and was part-financed by the European Union, the news service revealed.
Ireland's Minister for Communications, Dermot Ahern also announced on Monday that an extra 30,000 miles of broadband cable will be put in place over the coming eighteen months.
