Irish E-Filers Get More Time

by Jason Gorringe, Tax-News.com, London

05 November 2010

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CPA) on November 1 reminded taxpayers and their advisers that they can still pay and file their self-assessed income tax returns for 2009, if they avail themselves of Revenue’s online service, which has an extended submission deadline of November 16, 2010.

This is the final date by which tax payers, typically directors, those with non-PAYE income and those with taxable gains are obliged to pay and file online under the self-assessment system.

In 2009, 13,421 Revenue Solicitor warning letters were issued in relation to the Non-Filing of Income Tax and Corporation Tax Returns and Relevant Contracts Tax Returns. Legal proceedings were instituted in 2,364 cases and 1,030 convictions were secured.
