Irish newspaper the Sunday Business Post is to host a major taxation conference in Ireland in March 2001. The Taxation Forum - Maximising Wealth Minimising Tax - will take place on Thursday 8 March. The Business Post says it is organising the conference as a direct response to the rising number of high net worth individuals who require "tailored taxation strategies" on both a business and personal level.

The newspaper said last week: 'The Sunday Business Post believes that a fair tax system encourages the entrepreneurial spirit which has been so important to the success of the Irish economy. Tailored tax strategies frees up capital for investment and further contributes to our thriving enterprise culture. We recognise people's desire for a focused forum on this issue.'

The conference is particularly geared towards the following: individuals interested in tax efficient investment in property; individuals interested in the reduction of Capital Gains Tax; companies and individuals exploring mergers and acquisitions; people interested in tax efficient management of the inheritance of their wealth; individuals seeking to buy or sell companies; Chief Executives and senior management seeking personalised taxation strategies; high net worth individuals wanting to reduce their tax bills; companies and individuals wanting to make tax efficient investments and contract workers and returning Irish emigrants.

A major element of the conference will be tax clinics, which will run throughout the day giving delegates the opportunity to discuss general tax issues with specialists in a wide range of subjects. Speakers will include representatives from KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Ernst and Young.

The delegate fee is £360 (£300 plus VAT) and includes conference pack, refreshments and lunch. Payment can be made through the Sunday Business Post website, www.sbpost.ie, or via the Conference Hotline on 01 602 6000. More information is available from the Conference Hotline or e-mail conference@sbpost.ie
