It emerged on Friday that corporate tax specialist Nicola Guffogg is to join the Isle of Man's Income Tax Division of the Treasury as a Deputy Assessor of Income Tax, reporting to the Assessor, Malcolm Couch.

According to the IoM Treasury, Ms Guffog has over nine years of experience in the financial services sector. Her career started at the London law firm, Slaughter and May, where she qualified as a solicitor in their tax department. She is also a Chartered Tax Adviser.

It announced last week that:

"Whilst at Slaughter and May Nicola specialised in UK corporate tax and advised a wide range of corporate and multinational clients. In 1997 Nicola moved to Barclays Bank PLC where she has had a variety of tax planning, advisory and managerial roles; gaining broad experience working with the full range of financial services businesses within the Barclays worldwide group."

She will join the Isle of Man Income Tax Division in March 2007, and will concentrate initially on direct taxation relating to the financial services sector and compliance strategy; with additional aspects of her role being high–grade enquiry work and technical quality improvement.
