The Isle of Man Income Tax Division has reminded taxpayers that the deadline for submitting 2009/10 personal tax returns is on October 6, 2010.
The Division has warned that taxpayers failing to file personal tax returns for the year ended April 5, 2010, by October 6, 2010, will be charged a GBP100 penalty. If the return remains outstanding by April 6, 2011, a further GBP200 penalty will be charged. Even if the penalties are paid, the tax return must still be submitted, with those failing to do so liable to prosecution.
In a statement on September 6, the Division said: “Taxpayers are reminded that they can now submit their tax return online and avoid the large queues at the Income Tax Division office in the final weeks before the deadline. Anybody who is interested in submitting their tax returns online should register for Government Online Services and then follow the links to enrol for Tax Services as soon as possible and not leave it to the last few days before the return deadline.”
Alternatively returns can be put through the letterboxes at the front entrance to, or on the 2nd floor inside of, Government Office.
In addition, the Division has advised those requiring duplicate tax returns to apply to the Division as soon as possible so that they can be issued and returned prior to the October deadline.
