According to the Isle of Man’s e-gaming ambassador John Gilmore, the Department of Trade and Industry is now receiving more interest from prospective licence holders than at any time in the last two years.
In a report by local news service Isle of Man Online, Mr Gilmore noted that this growing level of interest in the jurisdiction as an e-gaming domicile was reflected by the number of enquiries received from industry representatives at last week's International Casino Exhibition (ICE) in London, where the DTI was among the exhibitors.
“We have been pleased with the level of interest that our recent publicity has generated worldwide. The inquiries received at ICE have been much more mature and reflect the increased level of awareness of the benefits offered by the Island,” observed Mr Gilmore.
He noted that the recent clarification that the Island is willing to accept bets from the United States had helped the situation “considerably,” adding that new business is likely to be generated on the island towards the end of 2005.
“We now feel the way is clear to attract a significant number of top e-gaming businesses to the Isle of Man, including poker rooms and e-casinos,” stated Mr Gilmore.
